The Ministry of Health is set to commence the second phase of its Yellow Fever vaccination campaign from April 2nd to April 8th, 2024.
After successfully covering 51 districts in the initial phase last year, the upcoming phase aims to reach 53 districts, with the final phase slated for October, targeting the remaining 44 districts.
Dr. Richard Kabanda, Commissioner of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, highlighted that the campaign aims to vaccinate all eligible individuals aged 1 to 60, excluding pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, individuals who underwent any form of body transplant in the last two years, and ill HIV patients.
Speaking at a stakeholders engagement meeting held in Kampala today, Kabanda noted that the primary objective of the campaign is to enhance accessibility to Yellow Fever vaccines across Uganda, addressing previous challenges of affordability and availability.
