I&M Bank, one of the leading banks in Uganda, has recently announced a major change that will affect its customers. The bank has decided to phase out its old ATM cards and replace them with Mastercards. This decision comes as part of the bank’s efforts to become Uganda’s preferred financial partner for growth.
For the past few months, I&M Bank has been urging its customers to upgrade to the new and improved I&M Bank Mastercards by February 1. This is because the bank’s new banking system will not support the old Orient Bank-branded Visa debit cards that customers have been using.
The change may seem daunting for some customers, but there are numerous benefits to switching to the new I&M Bank Mastercards. These cards offer seamless payment solutions for daily expenditures, both locally and overseas. They also eliminate the risk and inconvenience of carrying cash, making it a safer and more convenient option for customers.
But that’s not all, the new I&M Bank Mastercards also come with a range of other benefits. Customers will enjoy complimentary travel insurance for the Schengen visa, access to select airport lounges, and discounts on air tickets. They will also have access to attractive discounts at participating hotels worldwide, as well as flexible payment terms and a cancellation policy on hotel bookings.
Locally, customers will also be able to enjoy exclusive offers and discounts at Serena Group of Hotels and Golf Resort Spa, city properties, and luxury lodges. They will also get a 25% cashback on Jumia Prime annual subscription and a 75% scholarship off program tuition fees to eligible candidates with UNICAF partner universities.
The issuing of the new I&M Bank Mastercards has been ongoing, and the response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. Annette Nakiyaga, I&M Bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, expressed her gratitude to the bank’s customers for their patience during the past two years as the bank worked on this change.
“We are grateful that most of our customers have embraced our re-carding call with great positivity. We are inviting all our customers that have not yet upgraded to the new I&M Bank Mastercards to visit any of our branches and join us on this transformative journey. The replacement process is quick, and the customer will receive their cards instantly. The old cards will cease to be functional effective 1 February 2024,” Nakiyaga explained.
The new I&M Bank Mastercards can be activated using the I&M Bank USSD Service (*200#), the I&M Bank mobile banking application- Fastpay, or by visiting any of the bank’s ATM locations. Customers can also visit the bank’s website for a step-by-step guide on how to activate their new cards.
The bank’s CEO, Robin Bairstow, also expressed his excitement about the change, stating, “We are on course to offer the best and most convenient banking services and experience to our customers. Our recent partnership with Mastercard has allowed us to introduce a range of new and amazing I&M Bank Mastercard products. These cards will offer seamless payment solutions and make banking more convenient and secure for our customers.”
This change is not only a significant step for I&M Bank but also for the banking sector in Uganda. It showcases the bank’s commitment to providing its customers with the latest and most advanced banking services. So, if you’re an I&M Bank customer, make sure to upgrade to the new I&M Bank Mastercards before February 1 to enjoy all the benefits it has to offer.
