The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB) has commenced exams for over 52,000 candidates nationwide. The exams will span two weeks, conducted at 123 centers.
Exam Details
A total of 52,922 candidates are taking part in the 2024 exams. This includes 44,077 certificate students and 8,162 diploma students. The exams are being held in 123 examination centers across the country. According to Ms. Hellen Mukakarisa Kataratambi, UNMEB Executive Secretary, nine centers were merged following UNMEB regulations which require institutions to have at least 40 candidates to host exams.
Examination Security Measures
UNMEB has implemented stringent security measures to ensure the integrity of the examinations. Extra security, including the Uganda Police and UPDF, has been deployed to prevent malpractice and enhance security, particularly in sensitive regions like Karamoja. All examination materials were dispatched on June 4 and 5. A team of 4,401 personnel, including examiners, invigilators, center supervisors, and coordinators, has been deployed to oversee the process.
Candidate Briefing
Candidates were briefed on June 8, emphasizing their roles and the importance of maintaining examination security. Center coordinators and invigilators reported to their deployment centers on June 9 to prepare the examination rooms and coordinate candidate briefings.

Ms. Mukakarisa expressed confidence in the smooth execution of the exams, highlighting the extensive measures taken to ensure everything runs successfully. The meticulous preparation aims to uphold the high standards and integrity of the examination process.
